Main Stage

12:00-13:00 Webcomics, Hanna-Pirita Lehkonen
How can a graphic novelist support oneself with the help of internet? We will discuss webcomics, crowdfunding and how a Finnish artist can get to be a part of such projects.

13:00-14:00 Mental health in comics, a discussion panel with Wolf Kankare & Viivi Rintanen, Apila Pepita Miettinen leads the conversation
What is it like to draw autobiographical comics about one’s own issues, and why start such an endeavour? What are they currently working on? Kankare draws on the blog Susi sorakuopassa and has published two graphic novels. In her blog Hulluussarjakuvia Rintanen  draws stories of mental health sent to her by people going through different mental illnesses in cooperation with them. The discussion will be lead by Apila Pepita Miettinen who is the coordinator of RIKKI – taidetta mielenterveydestä collective and a graphic novelist.

14:00-15:00 Kirjaston sarjakuvavinkkarin työ, Siina Vieri
Director of Library Services of the City of Loppi ja book presenter Siina Vieri introduces libraries as a cooperation partner and sheds light to their operations models regarding acquisitions of comics and the like. She will also tell about her work as book presenter and how it can also be a means to get exposure to one’s own comics!

15:00-16:00 Another Castle – women’s choir
The geekiest women’s choir in Helsinki Another Castle signs songs familiar from TV-series, movies, games and other nerdy sources. On the stage of Taidekuja we will tell in song of dragons, of miraculous men and of space creatures; to name a few.

Workshops: Upstairs Lobby

10:00-12:00 Mini-zinepaja, vetäjänä Mira-Pauliina Puhakka
 In the workshop we will make simple and small A4-sized minizines. Materials will be provided on the spot, but do bring your own favorite pens with you!

12:00-13:00 Improsarjakuvapaja, vetäjänä Meg Valenwind
In the workshop we will draw quick, improvised comics of different themes. Materials will be provided on the spot, but do bring your own favorite pens with you!

13:00-14:00 Cosplay croquis, with Pihlajatar & Haltijakäpälä
In Cosplay Croquis we will draw quick, changing poses of models dressed in various cosplay outfits! Materials will be provided on the spot, but do bring your own favorite pens with you!

14:00-16:00 Japanese book workshop, with Maria Darnell
In the Japanese Bookbinding workshop we will make our own books in Japanese style. The technique is simple, easy to learn and quick to do. Materials will be provided on the spot, but do bring your own favorite pens, papers and strings with you!

Workshops have no participation fee.
